Tom Keech
Mixing & Sound Design
As a self-taught guitarist from an early age, Tom had been writing and performing music for sometime before he became an engineer at Stakeout Studios, an independent recording studio in London. Here he cut his teeth working with a number of artists such as Fightstar and Don Broco.
As well as engineering, he wrote and recorded an album that led to a publishing deal with Sony’s ‘Extreme Music’, allowing him to gain experience in writing music to picture and a new interest in sound design.
This discovery inspired Tom to complete a degree in Creative Sound Design at Guildford’s Academy of Contemporary Music, after which he built his own studio in Surrey.
“The best projects for me are the ones I’ve been involved with from the start, capturing the dialog on set and also doing the post audio work too. This gives a huge advantage when you’re in the edit and mixing stage as you know everything that was captured first hand and a deep understanding of it. I find my proudest projects have always been with that approach”
If Tom isn’t booked in the studio mixing or composing to picture, you’d probably find him working on location as a sound recordist.
